Shakhtar has a very good team

- What would you say to the press and fans?

- I'm Pedrinho, very nice to meet you. I’m happy to be here, I thank God that I’m at this big club and with great teammates. I can promise you that we will work hard for Shakhtar to win and claim the maximum number of titles and trophies.

- Why did you choose such an unusual number? Young players usually pick this kind of numbers.

- I started playing in professional football with this shirt number, I’ve got good memories about these numbers. I will try to carry it through my life and pick it at every club where I play if the opportunity arises.

- Is Pedrinho a nickname? In whose honour did you decide to take this particular nickname and not use your real name?

- My father's name is Pedro, so we often joked. In Portuguese, when talking about something or someone big, they add the -ao ending, so he was Pedrao, and I was Pedrinho. So it got attached to me in my childhood.

- At Corinthians you played with Jadson. Did he tell you anything about Shakhtar? When you received the club offer, did you call him for advice, maybe you asked Maycon or Sidcley?

- Yes, when I received the offer from Shakhtar, I talked to Jadson. It was a pleasure to play with him. After receiving the offer, I sent him a text message and we talked. I also sent a message to Maycon. The guys gave me the best information about Shakhtar, I was glad that those who were playing here or did it in the past have given such feedback, so I calmed down and realized that I would be very successful here.

- Have you encountered anything unconventional in Ukraine that surprised you? Who did you look up to as a child and what footballers would you compare yourself with in terms of position and style?

- So far, no incidents have happened to me because I haven’t stayed in Ukraine for long yet since almost all the time we’ve been at the training camp in Austria. My idol is Messi, the person to be looked up to. No wonder he is one of the best in the world. I try to always follow all his appearances and perform the same dummies, besides, he, like me, is left-footed. Maybe someday I will reach that level.

- Is it better to be left-footed and play on the right flank or should left-footers play down the left wing?

- I think it’s better to be left-footed and play on the right. So you have more options, opportunities for precision passing to different zones.

- Is your right leg just for walking?

- Of course not! We work out absolutely everything, therefore we will try to surprise you with both feet.

- Who of Shakhtar's Brazilians helps you with adaptation in Ukraine more than others? What objectives do you set for yourself and the team for this season?

- As Marlon already said, Shakhtar has a very good team, everyone helps you one way or another. Honestly, not only Brazilians, but Ukrainians accepted us in the best possible way and are helping us in adaptation. We feel absolutely calm and confident because we know that at any moment we can ask for help, and the guys will respond. Like every footballer, I want to claim wins and get titles. But then we don’t want to claim victories just in any way, but we want to play beautifully so that the fans are fully happy with this kind of football.

- A question from the fans: Portuguese reporters have dubbed you "Neymar No. 2". Do you like that or is it better to be “Pedrinho No. 1”?
