Shakhtar's new assistant head coach Davide Possanzini gave his first interview to Shakhtar News, in which he spoke about his responsibilities and shared his vision of football
- My responsibilities include helping Roberto De Zerbi as much as possible with a large number of people on the field. I always help him in communicating with football players if Mister is involved in some other work. In my free time I also try to be Roberto's first assistant.
- How long have you known and worked with De Zerbi?
- Roberto and I played for Brescia back in 2008, after which we always stayed in touch. We met again while receiving our first coaching diplomas. And in 2015, we decided to start cooperation after four years of work at the Academy.
- How did you react to the fact that you would find yourself at Shakhtar?
- It’s a great honour for me to work in Ukraine, especially at Shakhtar. This is a legendary club that plays in Europe regularly. A lot of talented footballers played at Shakhtar, and the team's style of play perfectly matches Roberto's philosophy. Of course, there are some difficulties because we have a different language, but this gives us certain motivation. I’m sure we can do a great job here and get the result.
- You already know almost all the players by name. What can you say about their level?
- I can say that the level of the players is really high. When we already knew that we would work at Shakhtar, we started watching the matches in more detail.
- Shakhtar will have to qualify for the Champions League. To what extent does this motivate you and what goals do you set for yourself on the international stage this season?
- The motivation, of course, is huge, but we always think consistently, that's why we are especially focused on the next training session.
- What is your personal philosophy in football? What, in your opinion, is defining?
- Roberto and I share the same philosophy. For us, the footballer always comes first. For our part, we try to give some quality and right pieces of advice because we also played football once in order to improve the technical and mental level of our charges, and we also ask them to always play to benefit attacks.
- What kind of football can Shakhtar fans expect under Roberto De Zerbi?
- I can say for sure that in each match we will do our best to win. We will always give our one hundred percent.
