Shakhtar’s Brazilian newcomer Marlon spoke in his interview to Shakhtar News about the first emotions after signing the contract, his strengths and adaptation in the team
- Welcome to Shakhtar! What emotions are you experiencing?
- I'm very happy. It’s a great honour for me to sign a contract with Shakhtar, I feel like the chosen one. Thanks for your warm reception!
- What played a key role in signing the contract with Shakhtar?
- The club has the same goals and vision as I do. I also really like the coach’s playing DNA and philosophy which fully coincides with my principles. I moved here to help and be part of the team.
- You previously worked under Roberto De Zerbi at Sassuolo. Do you consider this to be your advantage?
- I think this is an advantage for me and, probably, for the whole team. Still, I already understand the coach's ideas and can pass them on to other guys. I think this will help us fulfil the coach's ideas.
- What do you know about Shakhtar? Perhaps you’ve watched the team's games in European competitions before?
- Of course, I know the team. I watched the match against Real Madrid. I follow Shakhtar because so many great Brazilians have been at this club: Fred, Alex Teixeira, Bernard ... I know that before the last season the team managed to claim four consecutive league titles. I hope we will win again and, together with the teammates and the new head coach, leave our mark in Shakhtar's history.
- Do you know any of the Brazilian players currently playing for Shakhtar?
- I got acquainted with some by now, but I didn’t know anyone personally.
- There are many Brazilians at Shakhtar. Do you think they will help you adapt in the team and understand all the job subtleties quicker?
- I’m glad to be here. It's good that we will work and play together. And if God grants, we’ll be able to claim multiple titles.
- What strengths could you mention?
- Great passing, ball control, and I also understand the tactical requirements well. I’m quite a team player because football is a team game. It’s together that we manage to win and claim something.
- Do you have any player number preferences?
- Not yet. Basically, I’m happy to put on a Shakhtar shirt.
- Now you have the opportunity to address Shakhtar fans. What would you like to tell them?
- Thank you for your hospitality! I’ve already seen a few posts on Instagram, I’m very glad that you received me so well. I will do my best to help our team win.
