Former Shakhtar goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa gave an exclusive interview to Shakhtar TV

- Stipe, what have you been busy with lately?
- My activity is my children! I have five of them, and my wife is now pregnant with the sixth baby. So I spend a lot of time with my family. I am finishing my studies to get a Pro license, but I’d like to say straight away that I don’t want to be a coach. Maybe I’ll be involved in management - I graduated from another sports university. And I work as an analyst on television: after retirement I did it at the matches in the Croatian league, and now - for the last three years – I’ve been doing it just in the Champions League.

- Has the Croatian Championship made progress now?
- Yes! I’m delighted that our championship has been progressing after the World Cup. The infrastructure is also improving. A lot of good young footballers are developing and this gives us many players for the national team. We strive for the highest goals, both the national team and the clubs in the Croatian league who play in European competitions.

- You became a Shakhtar player together with Darijo Srna. What memories come to your mind?
- The base! It was just superb. Before that, at Hajduk, we basically trained on the same pitch. When Darijo and I arrived, the base impressed me a lot. And every year Shakhtar progressed after the arrival of Lucescu. And, of course, the most credit goes to the president Akhmetov: how much passion and money he invested into this team! I really respect him because of this. At the end of the day, the whole world learned about Shakhtar. Some excellent footballers played in the team. I am very pleased that I was a part of Shakhtar, and it will forever remain in my heart.
