Shakhtar claimed a major victory over Olimpik in the Donetsk derby

Fernando Valente carried out major squad rotation by fielding Kemkin, Rudavskyi and Sholar in the starting lineup. The latter has distinguished himself in the fourth game in a row. Andrii Chyruk has played for the first time after almost a four-month break.

Late goal

The Miners seized the initiative from the off and by the 5th minute they had a couple of promising set-pieces in front of Patskan's goal. Shortly after that, Losenko nearly took advantage of the scramble in the hosts' penalty area, but the defenders blocked his attempt. In the 18th minute, the Miners missed Mohil's burst into the penalty area, but his weak attempt posed no danger to Kemkin. Then Sholar and Honcharuk had their chances, with the Miners opening the scoring late in the first half. Udod earned a penalty, Patskan parried Sholar's spot-kick away only to see Artem manage to finish it off - 0-1.

Prykhodko’s double

Shakhtar started the second half of the match with a harmless effort by Rudavskyi. Then Honcharuk orchestrated a counterattack and brought Kobak through on target only to see Edvard shoot the ball into the hands of the goalkeeper. In the 52nd minute, Shakhtar were left short-handed - Yakuba earned a straight red card. But even playing with ten men, the Miners could well double the lead, however, Honcharuk wasted his opportunity after getting one on one with the goalkeeper. Midway through the second half, Mykytyshyn dangerously bent the ball into the roof of the net - the goalkeeper turned his effort for a corner at the last moment. In the 75th minute, Mazur brought Svityukha down near the penalty area and got a straight red card. Klym Prykhodko converted a free-kick rebound to make it 0-2. At the end of the match, Olimpik could have scored a consolation goal: Ostroverkh perfectly executed a free-kick, but Kemkin reached for the ball just in front of the top corner. Shakhtar scored the third goal then: Veklenko brought Prykhodko through on target, with Klym chipping it over the goalkeeper to seal the win.

The Miners’ confident 3-0 victory has been their fourth in a row. In the next round, Shakhtar U21 will take on Desna Chernihiv U21.
