Oskar Ratulutra reflects on the victory of his side over Olimpik in the Donetsk derby
- Please share your first impressions of the game.
- The match was tough. The opponents just parked the bus, making it difficult for us to break through their defensive lines. We managed to score after a set-piece. Everyone is content, but it’s bad that we failed to take advantage of a number of chances late in the match.
- Shakhtar created not so many chances at the Olimpik goal as you expected before the match. Did you instruct them to have more ball control in midfield or did the players play based on the score?
- We always want to attack, create dangerous chances in the opposing half, shoot more on goal and play forward. But we shouldn’t forget that there were also opponents on the field who had also prepared for the match and carried out some work. Olimpik defended competently, we must give them their due.
- Was this victory a bounceback after losing to Zorya in the last round?
- You could say that, but we prepare for any game in good faith and in every match we want to show our qualities. We get prepared in the same way regardless of the opponents.
- Today, Yuschenko and Rosputko have made their debuts for the main team, the second one even managed to score the winner. How happy are you with the performance of the players who moved to the team in the winter from younger age groups?
- The guys proved themselves during the training process, they showed that they can play for the first team. They deserved this place. We always tell footballers that the coaching staff primarily pay attention to their play and progress, not to their age.
- Is it more difficult for you as a coach to motivate the team to meet with outsiders than with the league leaders?
- That’s psychology. The team prepare for the match in the course of more than one training session. We work throughout the week: we talk with the players, discuss various situations that may happen during the match. The preparation process takes place daily.
