Shakhtar beat Olimpik Donetsk in the 17th round of the Ukrainian Youth Championship

Oleksandr Rosputko and Oleksandr Yuschenko debuted for Shakhtar U19 main team. Nazarii Havryliuk appeared in the starting XI after a long recovery from injury.

Narrow lead

The opening 10 minutes saw challenges in midfield, with no dangerous chances occurring at both ends. In the 11th minute, Hluschenko on the left delivered the ball to Yuschenko only for defenders to intercept the pass. But the very next attack down the left flank proved effective: Bako found Rosputko with a long ball, and the midfielder opened the scoring through a header. Then Hluschenko performed a free-kick just to hit the wall. The hosts excelled by taking a corner-kick near Puzankov’s goal, but the Shakhtar defenders turned out to be stronger aerially.

Goalless half

Oskar Ratulutra did not make any personnel changes during the break. Early in the second half, Osadets took advantage of Puzankov rushing out and tried to bundle the ball into the back of the net from the centre of the pitch - just wide. Then Berezanskyi tried to head a corner goalwards just to see it go high. The Miners spent most of their time in the opposing half, but Olimpik's tight defence did not allow them to create many chances. At the end of the meeting, the Orange-and-Blacks could have doubled the lead: Kozishkurt put Bendera through on goal with a splitting pass only to see Ivan's attempt miss the target.

1-0 - Shakhtar secured a narrow win vs Olimpik. In the next round on March 14, the Miners will host Chernihiv-based Desna.
