Despite the goalless first half, the Orange-and-Blacks finished this year’s final First League match with a traditional major win

In comparison with the previous game against Bahira, there was only one change on Shakhtar's roster: Svitlana Kohut appeared instead of Valeriia Olkhovska.

Goalless half

Right after the starting whistle, the action moved to the visitors’ half. Persha Stolytsia gave up the initiative and did not impose their game in the midfield. Due to a large number of defensive players, the opponents managed to counter the attacks of the Orange-and-Blacks. Although the hosts managed to play fluidly on the approaches to the penalty area, they often lacked space in the immediate vicinity of the goal. In the opening stages of the match, Mokhnach had a had a pretty good chance when she sent the ball just next to the post, plus the Kharkiv team were rescued by the crossbar following Yanchuk’s effort! Then the game developed in line with the scenario of the visitors who aggressively met their rivals near the penalty area and were watchful on the rebounds. Numerous set-pieces also brought no results: the towering defenders of Persha Stolytsia confidently operated aerially. As a consequence, the scoreboard displayed just zeros after the first 45 minutes.

Effective corners and Yanchuk’s performance

And yet the efforts that Roman Zaiev's charges made in the first half bore fruit after the break. The visitors looked noticeably tired and could no longer keep up with the Miners’ movements, which ultimately affected the performance. In the 50th minute, Molodiuk won the ball in the opposing half, Yanchuk picked up the ball and decided to take a long-range effort which caught the Persha Stolytsia goalkeeper by surprise (1-0). Shortly, Yanchuk provided an assist: Polina delivered a left-hand side corner, and Kozhukhar won the ball aerially and headed it inside the corner (2-0). In the 76th minute, the short Yanchuk, taking advantage of Krevska's cross, headed the ball down to shoot the ball inside the far corner past four defenders (3-0). For Polina, this goal is the 25th in this season’s 10 games. Then, the Orange-and-Blacks sealed the win after another corner. Molodiuk delivered it to the 11-metre mark for Kovb to drill it exactly where the spiders live.

4-0 – Shakhtar have ended this year’s part of their First League campaign with a major victory. The Orange-and-Blacks bagged 10 wins in 10 matches, scoring 30 points, 89 goals and all clean sheets. Those are the best figures among the league sides.

Roman Zaiev's charges will play the next match on Saturday, November 20, as part of the Ukrainian Cup. Their opponents are the top-flight representatives Voskhod from Stara Mayachka.
