Shakhtar forward Junior Moraes speaks about his return to Ukraine and the desire to start training with the team soon
- I am here, in Ukraine, again. I’m really happy and motivated. The injury and recovery is a tough time, with many days of intensive care, rehabilitation, and work. Thank God I'm coming back. There’s not much time left until the moment when I can take to the football field. I missed you very much!
- You were at a clinic in Barcelona. What do the doctors say? When can we see you in the general group?
- I'm really looking forward to it. The doctor, when he saw my knee, was a little bit surprised – he did not remember that five months had passed since the operation. He was surprised because he thought that more time had passed since then. He said that my knee is fine and that it’s going to take me a little more time and patience to be able to resume playing.
- On your social media pages, we saw the posts about your regular physical activity – swimming and fitness. What was your schedule like?
- Those were days of very intense work. There are actually three phases: therapy, training and recovery. It was worth it. I spent the first month at the clinic of Dr. Joaquim Grave due to the covid protocol. And from the second month, I stayed at the SC Corinthians camp and was recovering there until today. I want to repeat that it’s a very difficult and intense work, but it’s incredibly cool to see the evolution, the process of knee recovery every day. And now I’m really motivated.
- Have you chatted over the phone with Roberto De Zerbi? What did you talk about?
- Yes, we talked on the phone several times. I think he came with a cool, very interesting philosophy and way of thinking. I'm sure everyone at the club feel the right attitude thanks to the work he does. It seems that Roberto is a great man and coach.
- Shakhtar is a large family. Who of the players did you keep in touch with?
- Just like a family, I wouldn’t call it otherwise. I talked to some people from the club administration, to some players, the kitmen ... I kept in touch with everyone because we have strong friendly relations. I should thank absolutely everyone who wished me a speedy recovery because those are special people for me.
- On Instagram, they constantly asked when Junior would return and how he felt.
- I'm here! Thank you all for your messages - I received a lot of words of support and wishes for my speedy return. I am happy and want to reciprocate it to people: to be on the field, to play, to score goals and give my all for Shakhtar to continue winning permanently.
