Shakhtar Social started implementing the STEM project in Kyiv with the support of the UEFA Foundation and EFDN

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This project will enable children to learn the coding basics through football.

In September, the programme was launched at the secondary school No. 237 in Kyiv. During the first stage, they plan to train 200 children of the fifth, sixth and seventh grades. In the classroom (each child will have six lessons), they use special Sphero Bolt robots and tablets with the Sphero Education program installed. The guys are divided into small groups and learn three kinds of coding: with the help drawings, block-based coding and text-based coding similar to JavaScript.

In general, the STEM programme is designed for two years – 600 children aged 9 to 12 years old will complete it.
