Shakhtar midfielder Manor Solomon answered journalists' questions after the charity match against Antalyaspor
The Israeli footballer spoke about his attitude towards Ukraine and expressed his respect for the Ukrainian people, he also explained to whom he dedicated his goal.
- Manor, you talked a lot about liking Ukraine and having received a warm welcome in our country. What do you feel now when you hear the Anthem of Ukraine?
- In fact, I’ve been hearing the Anthem of Ukraine for more than three years now, and I’m really attached to the club, to the country. The things happening in Ukraine are simply terrible. Hopefully, all this will end as soon as possible. Presently, when the club needs help, I’ve come and provided support because Ukraine is going through a tough situation and the club too. So it means a lot to me.
- Do you keep in touch with the Ukrainian players, do you support them?
- Yes, I talk to the guys and can say that the Ukrainians are really very strong. Something terrible is happening in Ukraine now, but all Ukrainians without exception are strong, united, they are together at this moment. They still try to socialize, smile, just as they did before. Everyone hopes that the situation will be resolved as soon as possible.
- You scored a goal. What does it mean to you and whom do you dedicate it to?
- I dedicate this goal to Ukraine, to Shakhtar fans. Yes, we don’t play any competitive matches now, but we have this charity tour, so I dedicate the goal scored to all football fans. I want to say that, despite the complexity of the situation for the players and for everyone else, we’ve played decently against the strong teams of Antalyaspor and Fenerbahce. This suggests that Shakhtar has been staffed with good players for the coming years.
