Shakhtar midfielder Dmytro Topalov gave an interview after the charity match against Antalyaspor

- Dmytro, you scored your first goal for Shakhtar on this charity tour. To whom do you dedicate the goal, what does it mean to you?

- It's very nice to score for my home club where I’ve spent about 15 years – starting from U6. It’s true that later I moved to Mariupol, but due to the circumstances I play for Shakhtar again. I dedicate this goal to my parents who have moved from Volnovakha to Dnipro. At least something pleasant for them in this difficult situation.

- What do you think about the Shakhtar Global Tour for Peace charity matches?

- It's great, because people come, support us, and this is how we help – we raise money and send it to our army men. We all get united: fans, players – as one. It's nice that both the locals and our guys staying in Antalya come here. A lot of people attended the match, there were many Ukrainian flags – that's nice.

- You lived in Mariupol and played for the team for a long time. Now the city is being destroyed by Russian troops... How do you feel when you see this?

- Honestly, it’s really painful to see this because Mariupol, Volnovakha are my homeland. My parents had to relocate, I had to move, and nobody knows when we will get back there again. But we hope for our victory and that we’ll return there, rebuild everything, and that all will be fine with us.

- How do you remember Mariupol before the Russian army invaded it?

- During the time that I played in Mariupol, the city was flourishing: they set up parks and built a hockey arena there. Our stadium was to be reconstructed by 2025. Everything just bloomed, and now everything has been simply destroyed.

- What is the strength of Ukraine and what’s the strength of our people?

- The fact that we have freedom, freedom of speech. And the fact that everyone united: we are together – and we can’t be defeated!
