SCM, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC Shakhtar granted more than UAH 4.1 billion to support Ukraine

Rinat Akhmetov continues to provide full support for Ukraine and Ukrainians during the liberation war against Russian occupiers. From February 24, aid to the country, the military and civilians from SCM businesses, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC Shakhtar amounted to more than UAH 4.1 billion, reaching approximately 18 million people across the country. This aid actually helped 3.5 million of them to survive. Provision of ammunition, machinery and equipment to the Ukrainian Defence Forces, humanitarian aid to civilians, support of the critical infrastructure operation under conditions of Russian shelling are the primary targets for businesses and projects of Rinat Akhmetov.

Aid to the Ukrainian defenders is implemented, in the first place, as a part of the military project Steel Front of Rinat Akhmetov. The forced units receive ammunition, drones, special technical equipment (night vision systems, mekometers, cameras, etc.), fortifications, clothes and footwear, first-aid kits, tourniquets, portable radiostations, fuel and other necessary things and devices thanks to this initiative. Total amount of military aid has already reached hundreds of thousands of units. Also, Rinat Akhmetov’s businesses support functioning of critical infrastructure of the country including energy and telecommunication one. DTEK power engineering specialists do everything possible to quickly return electricity supply after terrorist attacks by Russia on the utility companies, to restore it in the de-occupied regions. Since February 24, they have brought back electricity supply to 5.8 families. Telecommunication services are available for 87% of settlements in Ukraine serviced by Ukrtelecom (except for Luhansk and Kherson regions) thanks to the dedicated work of the company specialists.

Another important direction is assistance to civilians, first of all, in near-front zones and de-occupied regions, vulnerable population categories, internally displaced persons, etc. People receive food products, primary necessities (clothes, household items etc.), medicine. Also, care is taking of shelters and asylums, bomb shelters and cover positions, hospitals, sources of light and water for population in the host cities of the companies. Support of local administrations, community services is also provided: from fuel to personal protection equipment for personnel. Thousands of internally displaced persons already had new jobs in SCM business.

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has already provided the Ukrainian citizens with hundreds of thousands of medicine units and dozens of thousands of blood bags. According to Rinat Akhmetov's decision, half a million food packages will be given to the residents of Ukraine in 2022. Besides, the Foundation launched the Museum of Civilian Voices that is the largest archive of testimonies of Ukrainians on the events of war against Russia. Almost 50 thousand stories of people suffered from actions of the occupiers have been gathered already. The Saving Lives initiative of SCM businesses provided help to 320 thousand people in frontline regions. Recently, the project announced implementation of a large-scale program for prosthetics and rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.

FC Shakhtar organised and covered all expenses for treatment of Azovstal defender Mykhailo Dianov. On December 13, Dianov underwent an operation on his upper arm in St. Louis (USA). Mykhailo’s right arm is going to be fully functional again after rehabilitation. Also, Shakhtar and the European Football for Development Network launched the European Football Powers Up Ukraine project, a campaign to collect power generators for Ukrainians, in December. The goal is to collect at least 160 power generators for Ukraine. Shakhtar’s Shelter Centre that has been accepting the internally displaced persons from frontline regions since the spring continues to work at the Arena Lviv.
