FC Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov sums up the previous year and wishes the fans a Happy New Year
Dear fans, dear friends!
The year 2022 is passing through – the most difficult year in the history of Ukraine and in each of our lives. At the beginning of the year, we were felt hopeful, we thought about football, we dreamed about new trophies and future sport triumphs, the war ruined all our plans and forced us to think about another type of victories, victories over the enemy and liberation of our Ukrainian land from the invaders. 2022 has also become the year of incredible unity, unity of the people of Ukraine in the struggle for independence, unity of the entire world in support of Ukraine. 2022 will leave mark as the year of courage, endurance and bravery of the Ukrainian nation.
The passing year has become a challenge for Shakhtar. Like the entire country, the club and the team showed their strength and mettle by performing with dignity in the Champions League and earning the right to represent Ukraine in the UEFA Europa League in the spring. It indicates that even in this situation we are full of the most serious ambitions, will to win and desire to entertain our fans. I am sure that an interesting second part of the season is waiting for us in the Ukrainian championship and European arena.
All of us are waiting for only one thing in the coming 2023, victory of Ukraine and peace in our land. Peace in Kyiv and Lviv, Kharkiv and Kherson, Odesa and Chernihiv, peace in liberated Ukrainian Donetsk, Luhansk, Mariupol and Crimea.
I wish you strength in the new year because we will need it to defeat the enemy, to restore destroyed cities, to build a free and prosperous Ukraine.
I wish you hope in the new year because only hope makes us keep fighting and win. Hope for a great future for us, for our children, for our country – this is the strength of the Ukrainian people.
I wish you patience in the new year because Ukraine and the people of Ukraine are going through unbelievably difficult times. However, we know what we are fighting for, we believe in our victory and that is why we will withstand all severities, we will stand becoming even stronger.
I wish you love and well because only they give us strength, hope, hope and patience. Love and goodness will undoubtedly win.
I sincerely hope that Shakhtar will bring us all joyful emotions, give us strength, hope, faith and love with their good play and impressive victories in the new year 2023.
