Shakhtar defender Sergii Kryvtsov spoke about his injury, recovery process, and return to the general group
- What’s your recovery forecast? When can you start training?
- I'm already training, but not in the general group yet. Presently, I mainly do exercises to restore the muscles that weakened after they put a plaster cast on my foot and I couldn’t use it for walking. I walk in a special ‘boot’ and load my foot a bit. I think in a week’s time we will move on to exercises in the pool, and then I will have to learn to walk again.
- During the first training camp, you trained individually with physiotherapists in Sviatoshyno…
- Thore were exercises to maintain the cardiovascular system and restore my atrophied muscles and feet. The leg was in a plaster cast for a month and a half, so now it’s necessary to restore the interaction between the ligaments and muscles.
- What procedures are you undergoing now?
- Electrical stimulation – the process of muscle contraction by electrical current. This brings more blood to the muscle so that it recovers faster and gets bigger. It’s useful to apply a similar procedure to a healthy leg – that’s a little help to my body.
- Do you do any upper body training at the same time?
- Of course, after removing the cast, I can work out the whole body: the abs, the back and shoulder girdle. I have two workouts a day with my physio. The morning session lasts three hours, with most of the time dedicated to treatment, and the evening session is proper in the gym.
- Is it mentally easier to practise on the field with the ball than for three hours in the gym?
- Of course, I always said that the injured guys work harder, train longer, and it's much more boring than with the ball. But it’s just unrealistic to have no injuries in football, so I will try to recover as soon as possible.
