Shakhtar youth team beat Elektra 1-0 in a friendly match

On February 11, Shakhtar U19 played a friendly match against Elektra, Austria.

In comparison with the match vs Altinordu U19, Oskar Ratulutra made three changes by fielding Kravets, Matveev and Veklenko in the starting lineup.

Early in the game, Pohorilyi burst into the penalty area, received a pass from depth, but failed to outplay the goalkeeper. Then followed a few more great chances near the Austrians' goal, with the Miners managing to fulfil one of the attacks: on 21 minutes, Artem Veklenko finished off a Havryliuk cross. The striker could have netted a double but for the goalkeeper who turned the ball into the crossbar. Elektra only once threatened Kravets' goal by their free-kick, with Vladyslav coming to his side’s rescue.

At half-time, Oskar Ratulutra fully replaced the attacking third. Budko brought Dubrovnyi through on target,  but the striker’s effort went wide. Almost the entire second half, the Miners continued bossing it, but the score did not change.

Shakhtar U19’s next match at the training camp will take place on February 15 vs Denmark’s Silkeborg U19.

Oskar Ratulutra, head coach:

“The friendly is very good! The guys had the opportunity to prove themselves, everyone got some match time, and this is good news. Besides, they managed to achieve a positive result. The opponents were older, but it was noticeable that we looked stronger skill wise.”
