Shakhtar U19 tied with Slavia U19 and extended their unbeaten run in the Al Abtal International Cup
From the start, the teams performed at a high pace and created several dangerous attacks. In the 15th minute, Bako broke down the left flank on his own only to see the Slavia goalkeeper operate confidently in front of the goal line. And in the 34th minute, Farina opened the scoring by successfully finishing off Bako’s free-kick. The Czechs also threatened Shakhtar’s goal on a few occasions, but Tvardovskyi showed great reflexes.
The second half began with a deflected ball hitting the back of Tvardovskyi’s net following a corner-kick. Then Shakhtar scored twice: Bako applied an accurate finish to fire it right home before Savchenko was the first on the ball after a free-kick situation, with both goals being disallowed. Ten minutes away from time, Pohorilyi could have sealed the win but for his failure to take advantage of a great chance.

We couldn't convert a few clear-cut chances, but we played well defensively, sealing off open spaces for the opponents

“Our team looked pretty good, but the opponents also proved themselves defensively and pressure wise. In the first half, Slavia created problems for us with their quick transition to attack, and in the second half they put less pressure on us, so it was easier for us to create chances. We should give the Czechs their due as their will to win was clearly noticeable. It's a shame that we didn't manage to win... We couldn't convert a few clear-cut chances, but we played well defensively, sealing off open spaces for the opponents.”

We need to work on our finishing, but in general we played decently. We are just getting used to one another since the squad has changed

“I think a draw is a negative result, it was necessary to win it. There were enough chances for that. We need to work on our finishing, but in general we played decently. We are just getting used to one another since the squad has changed. We simply lacked enough goals scored. In the next matches, we must take the pitch and play our own game, we will check the standings just at the end of it all.”
