David Neres gave his first interview as a Shakhtar player
- David, welcome to Shakhtar! What are your emotions after signing the contract?
- Thank you so much! First of all, I want to thank the club that received me here very well, with open arms, the Mister, the Director of Football... I just can't wait to put on this shirt and be able to play for Shakhtar.
- What players do you know? What can you say about Shakhtar in general, what do you know?
- This is a very big club, it’s the best here and delivers a worthy performance in European competitions. I know four or five Shakhtar players. Those are some of Brazil players, as well as Lassina Traore who played with me at Ajax. I keep in touch with the guys, we talk, and they help me a lot.
- What is your motivation, plans for the near future?
- To step it up as much as possible as a football player and as a person, of course, benefitting the team to the maximum. And to help the head coach. Whenever he needs me to play and make my contribution, I will do so. And, of course, we want to win titles.
- You are a famous footballer. And yet, please tell the Ukrainian fans about your major strengths.
- I don't think I'm that famous. The strengths? I believe that’s my left foot, cutting inside from a flank – I'm very good at that. And also my assists, the goals scored and, most importantly, the desire to win.
- What will you promise Shakhtar fans?
- I promise them full dedication, desire, goals, assists and titles.
