Shakhtar defender Valerii Bondar speaks about the weather change in Turkey and training sessions

- Valerii, how do you like the weather? Is it unusual to see snow?
- Indeed, it’s unusual here. It’s probably the first time I’ve seen snow in Turkey, at the seaside. It reminded me of my homeplace a bit, so I immediately dropped the pics to my relatives and friends, and they sent me photos of their weather. Of course, I already want to visit my home.

- What adjustments did this bring into the current training schedule?
- We were supposed to have a training session on the field, probably one of a tactical nature, but the plans changed slightly due to the weather. So far, we have done a good job in the gym, and in the evening we will train on the field.

- What were the exercises in the gym aimed at?
- They were for all muscle groups - both the upper shoulder girdle and the legs. That’s a pretty good work: both breathing, sweating, and strength ones.

- The second week of the training camp is well underway. Are you getting back in shape?

- Yes, of course. Everything gets harder each day, but at the same time it gets easier in the sense that we are rediscovering the form we got used to. I think it will help us in the league campaign later. We’ve got more than a week to go within this camp, so all is well.

- What’s your impression of the match against Wolfsberger? How difficult was it to get back into play after a long break?
- I already wanted to play because we were missing football. Training is training, but a game is a game, we’ve got a lot more responsibility and a fully different job to do in it. We are delighted that we have played the first match at a fairly good level, but there’s still room for improvement. We will work on the set-pieces we’ve got, transfer them to the football field and improve them.

- You pay a lot of attention to theory and tactics. Can we expect anything new from Shakhtar in the second part of the season?
- We’ll see, maybe we'll introduce something new in the new year. We consolidate all the things we had and make them even better.
