Shakhtar met with Mariupol in the second test match of the Turkish training camp

Roberto De Zerbi again, just like in the friendly vs Wolfsberger, fielded different lineups either side of the break, with the meeting consisting of two halves of 40 minutes each.

Activity of the Orange-and-Blacks

The Miners expectedly seized the initiative from the first minutes, and already in the opening stages they created several chances: the attempts of Fernando and Dodo were a bit inaccurate, and Turbaievskyi managed to stop Neres’ cross. The most clear-cut scoring chance came in the 28th minute from Marcos Antonio who just saw his effort shatter the crossbar. Mariupol also had a good opportunity – Svityukha's shot was parried away by Trubin, and Marcos did not allow Honcharuk to finish it off.

No goals

Maycon could have scored early in the second half, but the ball narrowly missed the target after his attempt. Junior Moraes sent the ball above the target to complete Mudryk's delivery. Most of the half saw the Miners’ positional attacks, but it was rarely possible to turn those moves into dangerous chances. Only at the very end, Shakhtar forced the opposing goalkeeper to work hard: first, Halchuk parried away the dangerous shots by Sudakov and Tete, then he blocked Moraes's attempt and saved Mudryk's long-range effort, securing a clean sheet.

0-0 – Shakhtar tied with Mariupol. The next friendly of Roberto De Zerbi’s men is scheduled for Monday January 31 against Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda.
