In an interview with shakhtar.com, the goalkeeper Anatolii Trubin spoke about his leisure time, preparation for the training camp and the goals for the season’s second half
- Anatolii, how is your winter holiday going? Where do you regain your strength?
- Immediately after the season’s first half ended, my girlfriend and I flew to the Maldives. I was resting, gaining strength and doing nothing there. Since late December, I’ve been staying in Kyiv and exercising, preparing for the training camp. We saw in the New Year at home, with our family.
- Was it your first time in the Maldives?
- Yes. For me, the most important thing is the ocean, the sea, the warmest one I've ever enjoyed. I just wanted the water to be warm and not to have to get used to it. And in general, I had a very good vacation and gained strength. I miss training sessions already!
- Did you lie on the beach more or walked around to see some beautiful places?
- There’s nowhere to walk there actually. I call it a lazy rest. You are on the beach, you eat, you swim. There’s nowhere to go, but I wanted just that, that’s why I selected this destination.
- Nevertheless, there was a post on Instagram about some new sports for you – golf, tennis. Plus boxing added up in Ukraine. What do you like more, besides football, and what is easier for you?
- Yes, I once tried golf while on holiday – I didn't really like it. Maybe because I don’t know how to do it properly, so I didn’t enjoy it to the max. Tennis is cool. Each sport is interesting in its own way, it gives you something new and allows you to relax while resting. And boxing is part of my preparation for the season. There are many movements and specific work that can help me in the future, I guess.
- Do you plan to continue boxing?
- Not so frequently, but if possible, then yes. It will depend on the training process and my time. As long as it’s possible, I attend those sessions.
- What other ways do you use to keep fit in Kyiv?
- I added jogging, gym, some get-togethers with my friends and acquaintances to play football.
- How would you rate the first part of the season? What are its positive aspects?
- Firstly, it's good that we finished the year 2021 in the top spot. The progress of the whole team is clearly visible. We got stronger after every session and game. We understand what the head coach demands of us. Plus it's good that we won the Ukrainian Super Cup. I think everyone feels that they step it up individually and that our teamwork is improving every day. When we make it automatic and can fulfil all the requirements, our play and the results will get even better.
- The fans picked Мudryk as the Player of the Year. You must be delighted at the fact? For two years in a row, the goalkeepers Pyatov and Trubin have won the title, while in 2021, as expected, that’s an attacking footballer. Does it imply the improvement in the attacking play?
- Why? Had the goalkeeper won it, I would have been just as happy! I am happy for Mykhailo, my old friend since our time at the Academy. I suppose this recognition by the fans will be a huge motivation for him, a mental impetus. I congratulated him personally. Knowing Mykhailo, I am sure that he won’t let stardom go to his head, but will work even harder. And this will be a huge plus to both him and Shakhtar.
- The same advance and incentive as in your case?
- Of course! If you use this in the right way, the support and faith of the fans will be of great help. You just develop as a footballer with a double or even triple desire to progress.
- During the season, you were injured. How did you get back on track? How difficult was it to immediately fulfil every ballwork requrement, to quickly make decisions on exchanging passes with the defenders, early in attacks?
- Of course, breaks affect it. It’s most difficult mentally. You constantly train and play, participate in all processes, and then you are out for a month and work just individually, then you rediscover your top form for about a month. During the injury period, I lost some of the qualities that I had to work on again, like on a training camp, and to improve them. It was hard at first, but it got better after every session and game. As a result, I felt that I was getting even stronger than I was before the injury.
- You have a training camp ahead. What are your goals? Is there a possibility to get even stronger as a team, to successfully enter the season and win the league title?
- Yes, the objectives are always the maximum ones. There are no other spots for us except the top one. We will try to lay a great foundation at the training camp to make it easier for us thanks to those physical and mental skills when the season resumes. We will have a month to hone all the necessary components. They are required to deliver an even more spectacular performance in the second half of the season.
