Shakhtar's training camp in the Netherlands is gaining momentum
Sunday was the same kind of workday for the Miners as the previous ones, just with a little difference. In the morning, instead of traditional training on the field, the coaching staff invited the players to take a bike ride around Rotterdam to combine physical activity with a tour of the city and some positive emotions.
The evening session was also uncommon. The team have played a small-sided training game today. Before the start of the match, the players were handed the flag of Ukraine with the coat of arms of the region where Shakhtar have been training, and they had a joint photo with the referees taken.
The game comprised two halves of 30 minutes, with the only goal being netted in the first half by Oleksii Kashchuk. After the match, Shakhtar's head coach Igor Jovicevic thanked each player for the game individually and immediately carried out a brief analysis of the match, analyzing the actions of his men. It is worth noting that part of the team stayed after the small-sided match to do some more fitness exercises.
The Miners will have their first friendly at the training camp on July 22 vs Fortuna before the Shakhtar Global Tour for Peace charity matches vs Ajax and Utrecht.
Proceeds from the sale of tickets and advertising will be used to purchase everything necessary for the defenders of Ukraine, Ukrainian citizens and children affected by the war. A total of UAH 13.2 million has been raised through the five charity matches played in the spring.
We want to point out that from February 24 to July 1, SCM businesses, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC Shakhtar have granted more than UAH 2.7 billion or about USD 90 million to help Ukraine and Ukrainians, with the amount increasing daily. Humanitarian aid has already reached over three million people.
