Ukraine U19 continue fighting for the European Championship berth

In the second match of the elite round group stage, the wards of Volodymyr Yezerskyi met with the Serbia U19 national team. Four representatives of Shakhtar again appeared in the Ukrainian starting lineup: goalkeeper Tymur Puzankov, defenders Eduard Kozik, Andrii Buleza and Maryan Farina.

The early stages of the game passed without any particularly threatening situations: we remember only Kozik's dangerous cross which was interrupted by the defenders. And closer to the middle of the first half, the teams delivered an active segment of the play by exchanging goals. In the 18th minute, the Serbs opened the scoring thanks to precision shot by Ilic, but soon the Blue-Yellows restored parity – Illia Kvasnytsia scored by converting Yehor Yarmolyuk's pass. Then the game became more cautious, and only after the break did the Balkan side begin to attack involving major forces. However, the defence of the Ukrainian team worked flawlessly and did not allow the opponents to net any goals. However, our guys also wasted their chances in counterattacks.

1-1 is a battling draw between Ukraine U19 and Serbia U19. After two rounds of the group stage, both sides have four points each, but the Ukrainians are topping the table due to the greater number of goals scored.

Volodymyr Yezerskyi's team will play their final qualifier against the Netherlands U19 team on June 7. The group winners will qualify for the 2022 UEFA Euro U19 competition.
