The club symbol was handed over before the Hajduk vs Shakhtar charity match
On May 1st, FC Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin presented the UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin with a Shakhtar shirt bearing MARIUPOL lettering. The UEFA chief has attended today’s Shakhtar Global Tour for Peace charity match between Hajduk and Shakhtar in Split, Croatia.
It should be noted that before the game, Shakhtar players took the field wearing the jerseys featuring SAVE MARIUPOL and WE AZOVSTAL (We are Azovstal). By doing so, the club wanted to once again draw the attention of the world community to the need to de-blockade Mariupol and, in particular, the Azovstal plant whose basement is used as shelter by thousands of people, including women and children who have been hiding from Russian troops’ bombardments for two months now.
