The Miners appeal to the European football clubs to support the humanitarian initiative

FC Shakhtar and the European Football for Development Network (EFDN) launch the European Football Powers Up Ukraine project, a campaign to collect power generators for Ukrainians. The programme is aimed at the clubs that are the EFDN members, but is not limited by them only.

The clubs are offered to donate from 1 to 5 power generators of any capacity in order to participate in the initiative. Moreover, five power generators are a conditional limit, and if the clubs have such possibility, they are welcome to give more. The campaign goal is to collect 160 generators minimum, i.e. one from each EFDN member club.

Inna Khmyzova, Director of Shakhtar Social:

– Ukrainians faced a huge problem of lack of electricity due to shelling of civilian infrastructure by Russia. A cold winter is ahead and the country has huge problems with electricity, communications, the Internet, and heating. We urge the football clubs in Europe to show solidarity with Ukraine and support Ukrainians in this difficult time. Your help is not only a generation of electrical energy, but generation of humanity, love and hope.

The initiative of FC Shakhtar is supported by the Legia Warsaw Foundation (Fundacja Legii) being ready to receive generators in Warsaw and transport them further to Ukraine.

Power generators received from the football clubs will be used to support the Shelter Centre work at the Arena Lviv in Lviv (about 200 people live there; 70 of them are children), as well as to organize support points for Ukrainians throughout Ukraine.
