Shakhtar’s annual report

26 years ago, on October 11, 1996, Rinat Akhmetov became the president of FC Shakhtar.
Today FC Shakhtar presents the annual report informing about the club’s activity according to the results of season 2021/22.
You will find the CEO’s report, data on infrastructure and management of the club, statistics of the first team performance in all tournaments, infographics, sections about the women’s team and the Academy, Shakhtar Social foundation, revenue of the club and taxes in the issue.
The annual report is started with a traditional statement of the president of the club.

“Dear fans! Dear friends!
Together, we got along one of the shortest, but at the same time incredibly difficult seasons in the history of world football. A season of such trials and challenges that no country has faced before. It is the first and, I sincerely hope, the only Ukrainian championship that was never finished.
The season ended on February 24, 2022 for us, on the day the war has begun. Football goes to a very distant plan during such moments, and the only and most important goal becomes a different kind of victory, victory over the aggressor and invader.
Since the moment of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, we are all united by one goal – to win the war and return all the lands occupied by the enemy. And everything we have done after February 24 was for this goal. All our efforts were aimed at provision of help for Ukraine and Ukrainians.
Shakhtar played the charity matches in different countries to tell the world the truth about the war in Ukraine. The world should know what is going on in our country. Every person on the planet should understand what challenges the Ukrainian people are going through on the way to their freedom and independence for peace and tranquillity of the entire Europe. Our goal and our mission are to show and deliver this truth. Charity matches also made it possible to raise sufficient funds to help Ukrainians – soldiers, medical workers, civilians, children. The club organized the Shelter Center at the Arena Lviv providing support to thousands of internally displaced persons from all over Ukraine. We separately provide aid to the families taken into care, we help children who lost their parents in this war.
And provision of such aid continues. We will support Ukrainian football: I made a decision to allocate UAH 60 million to help clubs and football projects in Ukraine. We will support those who need it most, that is, Ukrainian children left without parents. Because children are the future of our country and Ukrainian nation. We will help in the rehabilitation of Ukrainian military defending Ukraine at the cost of their own health and requiring now treatment and recovery. We will support the internally displaced persons and provide civilians with all the required aid. I want to stress it once again: we have always provided, are providing and will provide the necessary help for the victory of Ukraine.
Our life completely changed, as did our country and the whole world during the long months of the war. Shakhtar also changed a lot. The international players left the club. It was impossible to imagine the team without them half a year ago. However, new players joined the team, strong and talented Ukrainians, many of whom are graduates of our Academy.
We also invited Igor Jovicevic to the head coach position. This is a Croatian coach with European mentality and Ukrainian brave heart. He is ready to be in Ukraine and share all difficulties and hazards together with Ukrainians. This deserves a great respect. So I believe in Igor and his idea, believe in the coaching staff and believe in our team. I believe in young, ambitious, Ukrainian Shakhtar. And I know that we will fight not only for the club, but also for our country in every tournament, in every match.
However, my strongest belief is in the victory of Ukraine. In the victory of good over evil, in the triumph of truth, justice and the spirit of the Ukrainian people. Today, all our thoughts and efforts are aimed at this victory, and we will continue to do everything we can to bring it closer. I believe that the day when we return to the liberated peaceful Ukrainian Donetsk and meet all together at our Donbass Arena will come soon”.
