Shakhtar lose to Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League home match

Oskar Ratulutra changed the starting lineup comparing with the match played a week ago: Rosputko played in Shakhtar’s defence on the right instead of Chuiko giving his position in a holding area to Yanovych.

Palacios’s goal

Shakhtar could have open the score in the match opening when Yushchenko was finishing the attack with a power shot into the near corner after Rosputko’s pass, but the keeper saved the Madrid side. Then Real Madrid had more possession, however dangerous chances near Tvardovskyi’s goal were created only in the 21st minute: Fortuny hit the post from the penalty box. The Galacticos scored the first goal in the next attack: Cesar Palacios reacted on the ball bouncing in the rival penalty area and sent it into the bottom corner making it 0-1. Leading in the score, Arbeloa’s team had a series of opportunities, but Tvardovskyi dealt with Lancha Perez meeting him one-on-one and Naveros performed a high shot. At the end of the half, Shakhtar managed to organize a counter-attack with Siheev, but Kyrylo’s attempt passed two centimetres from the post – the Miners left for the break losing narrowly.

Unpleasant defeat

In the second half, Real Madrid maintained the territorial advantage, which was converted into the goal by Jimenez completing Perez’s pass near the far post in the 55th minute. Then Pushkaryov had the opportunity to close the gap, but shot above the crossbar after an excellent delivery from Rosputko. The Madrid side had more possession in the central area and Shakhtar players mainly performed a defensive work creating danger only after fast switching from defence to attack and set pieces. It was the corner kick making it possible for Losenko to perform a good shot, unfortunately Pineiro managed to save the visitors. In the 86th minute, fresh Guerrero outplayed Tvardovskyi setting the final score.

On October 15, Shakhtar U19 will entertain Dynamo U19. The Miners will play the next match in the UEFA Youth League vs Celtic U19 away on October 25.
