In the starting line-up of the Miners, Igor Jovicevic entrusted the positions to the same players who had started the Champions League match with Real Madrid this week.

Zubkov's goal and Traore's chances

The teams started the game actively, and the first moment was created in the debut of the meeting: Vanat in the counterattack kicked closely into the near corner but Trubin reacted. In response, Zubkov hit the wall from the penalty spot, and several of Mudryk's breakthroughs were blocked by the Kyivans’ defenders. In the middle of the half, Shakhtar raised the pace and achieved the result: in the 29th minute, Mudryk crossed a high ball from a corner, Traore head-kicked the ball to the goalkeeper's corner, and Oleksandr Zubkov destroyed Neshcheret 1-0. Donetsk residents could increase their advantage shortly before the break. At first Traore head-kicked, but the goalkeeper pulled the ball from under the crossbar. Then Tymchyk fouled in the penalty area on Mudryk: the penalty kick was taken by Traore, but Neshcheret parried the Burkinian's kick into the left corner.

Exchange of goals and Jovicevic's joker

In the second half, events unfolded rapidly. In the 46th minute already, Vanat head-kicked Tsyhankov's ball delivery and evened the score. However, just one minute later, Mykhailo Mudryk accepted Sudakov’s pass and with a kick from the left border of the penalty area sent the ball exactly into the far bottom corner, bringing Shakhtar ahead once again, 2-1. Stepanenko kicked Zubkov’s heel pass but was blocked by Neshcheret's save. In response, Trubin pulled a powerful kick by Vivcharenko, and Bondar knocked the ball out from under Buyalskiy's feet in a precise sliding tackle. Igor Jovicevic refreshed the attack by fielding Danylo Sikan and this substitution was almost decisive for the outcome of the game. In the 69th minute, Sikan ran one-on-one with the goalkeeper and was knocked down by Zabarniy – the Dynamo defender recieved a red card for a foul of despair and left his team in the minority. In the 74th minute, Danylo Sikan completed Mudryk's cross to the penalty area and increased the Miners' advantage 3-1. The Orange-and-Blacks were calmly controlling the course of the game during the remaining time and did not allow the opponent to pose a threat to Trubin's goal. Instead, Sikan could have made a double in compensated minutes by sending the ball over the goalkeeper, but Neshchereta was backed up by Popov.

3-1 – Shakhtar beats Dynamo in a brilliant Ukrainian Clasico!

The next match of Igor Jovicevic’s team will be on October 19 in Lviv with Kolos.
