Shakhtar helped defender of Ukraine Vitalii Shumei with his treatment in Barcelona

The wounded fighter is undergoing rehabilitation in one of the best clinics in Spain
FC Shakhtar paid all expenses for treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian serviceman Vitalii Shumei at the University Hospital of the Institut Guttmann in Barcelona. It is one of the leading neurorehabilitation centres in the world and the largest in Europe. The defender of Ukraine is already in the clinic where he is receiving all the necessary medical assistance.
We remind that Vitalii Shumei, who is from Sumy region, was the commander of the anti-aircraft missile system during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. He had a mine-blast head trauma in August near Avdiivka. As a result, he lost his ability to move, speak and eat on his own. Vitaly underwent three surgeries, received treatment in Dnipro, Kyiv and then in Chernihiv. The hero’s father Serhii Shumei stays next to him all the time, helping his bedridden son with everything.
After learning this story, FC Shakhtar found a clinic and made all arrangements with Spanish doctors to provide assistance to the fighter, as well as took the initiative to pay in full all expenses related to the transportation of Vitalii Shumei and his father to Barcelona, treatment and further rehabilitation. As soon as the serviceman's condition stabilized, he was taken to Spain by reanimobile at the end of March. Vitalii now has a long-term rehabilitation and aid of specialist doctors ahead of him.
Earlier, Shakhtar paid for treatment and rehabilitation of Azovstal hero Mykhailo Dianov in the United States, as well as member of the fan movement of the Miners military serviceman Yevhen Larchenko in Israel.
