Shakhtar newcomer Eguinaldo gave his first interview as a team player
– Welcome to Shakhtar! When did you arrive and how do you feel in Ukraine?
– I am very happy to be with Shakhtar, a club with such a great history, I am glad to join this wonderful team. I arrived on Saturday and will train with the guys; I am looking forward to it.
– What was the key factor in your decision to join Shakhtar? What do you like about the team?
– Many Brazilians played here, and this is nice. My friend Alex Teixeira played here, he speaks very positively about the club. This also influenced my decision a lot. I am grateful for the love and support; I hope to live up to all expectations.
– Did you talk to other Brazilians who used to play for Shakhtar before moving?
– I talked to Newerton, who also arrived recently. He told me how beautiful this city is, that the club is very welcoming and that, in general, all guys are nice. Hopefully, we will have another successful season. I also talked to Alex Teixeira, a friend of mine. He gave me a lot of advice, told me about the club and the city. He spoke very highly of Shakhtar, said that he was treated very kindly here, advised me to go, reassuring me that I would have a good season here and that I would score a lot of goals. I also want to thank my agents Mauricio and Daniel, who gave me confidence. I am determined to show a good result this year.
– Did you follow Shakhtar before that?
– I constantly watch the Champions League matches, I saw how the club defeated Real Madrid or how they played against other European clubs. It is always so exciting and interesting for me, and I am happy to play for this club.
– How can you help the team in this game model? What are your strongest qualities?
– I will be very useful in the attack, counterattack, conversion of goal-scoring opportunities. Those are my strengths, and together we will have a great season.
– Have you met any of the players yet?
– Currently, I only know two Brazilians. I plan to meet the guys, chat, get to know each other better and make many friends. And prepare for future games.
– You chose number 7. Why?
– Number 7 is very important to me, so I took the choice very seriously. And overall, I just like this number.
– You have been in Ukraine for a few days. What do you think about Kyiv and Ukraine?
– I arrived on Saturday. I shared the victory with the guys over the weekend. I really like the city; I am happy to be here!
– Were you scared to go to the country at war? How did your family react to it?
– No, I was not scared to go here. I received great support, including from the club. I am sure that everything will be fine. My family took the news well and wished me success and to have a great season here.
