51-year-old Chris van der Weerden has been appointed as Shakhtar assistant head coach.
We remind that Mario Stanic, Roel Tambeur and Jeroen Schepens joined the coaching staff of the Orange-and-Blacks earlier.

Christian Hermanus Cornelis van der Weerden was born on November 15, 1972 in Nijmegen (Netherlands).
He played for NEC Nijmegen (1990–1994), Vitesse (1994–1995), PSV (1995–2001), Twente (2001–2004), Belgian Beerschot, (2004–2006), FC Eindhoven (2006–2008). Chris is the champion of the Netherlands (1997, 2000, 2001), the holder of the Dutch Cup (1996) and Johan Cruyff Shield (1996, 1997, 1998, 2000), the winner of the Belgian Cup (2005) and the Belgian Super Cup (2005).
He started his coaching career in 2006 in the PSV system as a coach of junior and youth teams of the club. In March 2012, he joined Phillip Cocu's coaching staff at PSV (2012–2018). Chris also worked as an assistant to Phillip Cocu in Turkish Fenerbahce (2018–2019) and English Derby County (2019–2020). He became Dirk Kuijt’s assistant at ADO Den Haag in the summer of 2022, joining Cocu's staff at Vitesse in October of the same year (2022–2023).
