Shakhtar midfielder Dmytro Kryskiv shared his impressions of the match against Metalist 1925 (2-0)
– Dmytro, how can you comment on the game: what were you able and not able to implement today?
– Perhaps, today Shakhtar did not show all 100 percent of what they are capable of. It was a very bad first half on our part. During the break, the coach made a very emotional speech, told us off a little, gave new instructions. The main thing is that he showed the moments that can change the result on the board, and I think that in the second half we came on and managed to implement these instructions and gain three points. This is the most important thing.
– What instructions did you receive from the coaching staff during the break? Who addressed the team? Only Marino Pusic or maybe Darijo Srna, the assistants?
– Everyone participated: from Darijo Srna to assistant coaches. They pointed out the mistakes we have been making since the beginning of the game: we started the match very badly, everyone was not in the position they should have been in. But I do not want to tell everybody such details, because they can help us in the future.
– What do you think has recently prevented Shakhtar from converting their chances in the matches of the Ukrainian League, because there are plenty of them?
– Indeed, there are many goal-scoring opportunities, but for some reason we score few goals. We are working on conversion during training sessions, but I do not know the reason... Perhaps things will get better in the future. Maybe this will be our starting point and in the next matches we will be able to score more goals and win more confidently.
– Please think about the episode with the spot-kick, what happened there?
– Zubkov and Nazaryna played a very good combination on the right, I received a nice pass from Yehor, picked it up under my left foot and could shoot, but decided to outplay the opponent on the swing and earned a spot-kick. I think it was a stonewall penalty.
– How did you decide where to shoot exactly, or was it intuitive?
– I do not know, I took the ball, kicked it – that is it. I did not give it much thought.
– At one time, you played for Metalist 1925 and know this team well. What do you think about performance of your opponents today? Can we say that Kharkiv team played well in defence?
– Yes, I have only pleasant memories of this club, I was very happy to see everyone, from the players to the staff. Today, they really disturbed us from the first half, they acted one-on-one across the field, it was difficult to beat this defence. I thought I felt it on the field and the coach said that it was a game until the first goal, and it will be much easier for us after that. It is bad that we scored the first goal only in the 59th minute. If we had scored earlier, in the first half or in the opening minutes, it would have been a lot easier.
– It is a little uncomfortable to ask about this, but there are questions in the media and social networks, so please tell us, how is your health? Maybe something is bothering you, because we see that you need the help of doctors in some matches?
– There are some unpleasant problems that prevent me from playing, they do not allow me to give 100 percent in some matches, but we have a very good medical staff that will hopefully help me solve this problem. I cannot say what it is yet, but I hope that I will solve the problem in the near future, on vacation, and everything will be fine.
– The second stage of the UPL started today. Looking back, what are the conclusions after the first stage?
– There were good and bad moments, but a lot of bad ones. We lost many points in the games that should not have been lost. The coach told us during the week that the second stage starts today and from this moment we have to play only for victory from the first to the last meeting if we want to be at the top of the table.
– There are two more matches before the winter break – against Veres in the Premier League and against Porto in the Champions League. What are the goals and the plan for these meetings?
– There is one plan: the team must be united in this, perhaps, the most important period. Now we have a great team, a very good atmosphere, so we will all unite and work for victory.
