Shakhtar are to play against Croatian Hajduk in the UEFA Youth League play-offs

The Miners successfully passed the group stage this season, taking the second spot in the quartet F. Oskar Ratulutra’s side gained 10 points (3 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses) in the matches against Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Celtic. The Orange-and-Blacks prepared for the match at the training camp in Turkey during 25 days, working in the two-time training mode and playing 7 friendlies (2 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses) with a goal difference of 11-8. Oleksandr Yushchenko, Vladislav Pohorilyi, Kyrylo Siheev, Anton Hlushchenko and Oleksandr Rosputko participated in the matches of Shakhtar senior team.

– We approach the game against Hajduk with positive emotions only. We finished the training camp recently that turned out to be very productive. Lately, we have been purposefully preparing for the match against the Croats. Undoubtedly, we have already analysed Hajduk, I understand the opponents’ play. I know that the rivals are experienced performers in the UEFA Youth League and I expect an interesting encounter. I believe in Shakhtar and I am confident that we have more chances to succeed.

In the debut European competition campaign, the Croatian team beat Albanian Shkëndija U19 (2-0, 3-1) and Belarusian Minsk (3-0, 1-1) in the Champions Path, but lost to Atletico Madrid in play-offs in penalty shootout, ending regular time with a goalless draw. Marijan Budimir’s outfit once again confidently passed Azerbaijanian Gabala (3-0, 2-1) and Albanian Apolonia Fier (3-0, 3-1) this season.
