Shakhtar captain Andrii Piatov retired from professional football to join the coaching staff of the Miners. The goalkeeper will play his farewell match against Tottenham in London on August 6

Andrii Piatov played 482 matches for Shakhtar that is the third best indicator in the history of the club and the most appearances among goalkeepers.

He raised 28 trophies together with the team that is the absolute all-time record of the club! Together with the Orange-and-Blacks, Piatov captured gold medals in the Ukrainian Championship 11 times (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023), won 8 Ukrainian Cups (2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) and 8 Ukrainian Super Cups (2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2021), became the UEFA Cup winner – 2009.

Andrii Piatov wrote the history of Shakhtar for 16 years, and along with it, the history of all Ukrainian football. During this time, he became the best goalkeeper in the country, the captain and legend of the Miners, the most awarded player in the history of the team, a model of professionalism and boundless dedication to the club.

His passion for football, his strong personality and willingness to sacrifice everything for the sake of the team, his brave and reliable play, impressive resilience in the most difficult situations, his thirst for wins have always been and will be appreciated by Shakhtar fans.

Andrii, thank you for these incredible 16 years: for dozens of trophies and hundreds of victories, for thousands of unforgettable moments on the football field, for an unlimited number of bright emotions, for true love and respect for Shakhtar! It was a beautiful history, Captain!
