Shakhtar defender showed goal involvement in the match against Belgium U21

Georgia U21 continue impressive performance at the European Youth Championship. Having started with a victory over Portugal U21 (2-0), earlier the Georgians played against Belgium U21 in the 2nd round of the group stage. The host team clearly failed in the first half, creating almost no opportunities near the opponent’s goal and at the same time conceding twice.

During the break, head coach Ramaz Svanadze made a series of substitutions: Shakhtar defender Giorgi Gocholeishvili was among the players who came on the field. In the 51st minute, the Miner helped his national team reduce the gap: Gocholeishvili moved from the right wing and assisted Giorgi Tsitaishvili, who hit the near corner with a shot from outside the penalty area – 1-2. The Georgians, supported by almost 42,000 spectators at the stadium in Tbilisi, continued to attack and achieved their goal: in the 87th minute, Giorgi Guliashvili headed his teammate's cross right home and brought the host team to a draw – 2-2.

Georgia U21 continue to top Group A: Ramaz Svanadze's team have 4 points and are ahead of Belgium U21 and Netherlands U21 (both have 2 points). A draw with the Dutch in the final round of the group stage on June 27 would be enough for the Georgians to advance to the play-offs.
