Head coach of Shakhtar U19 Oskar Ratulutra summed up the victory over Vorskla U19 in the last match of the season
– Before the match, we drew the boys' attention to the fact that we are Shakhtar and we must win, playing quality football even in matches that do not decide anything from the point of view of the tournament standings. I wanted the boys to show everything that they are capable of, because now there are many young people in the team and this experience will be important for their development. The game itself turned out to be lively as expected, it is very good that we managed to finish the season in high spirits.
– Is it difficult to prepare the team for a game that has no competitive value?
– We are Shakhtar, so we should win every game, because we have very promising performers who prove it from match to match.
– The first match against Poltava team was not easy, but did you look back on that meeting before this match?
– Yes, we talked about that match. Vorskla created a lot of danger then, and sometimes we were even lucky. The main thing is to draw the right conclusions.
– Could the team have scored more than one goal today?
– Yes, we had enough good opportunities, we could have scored second and third goals, but we were unlucky with the conversion, and the opponent's goalkeeper did well. It is noticeable that the opponents prepare and analyse us. As the championship has shown, everyone plays "matches of a lifetime" against us.
– How would you summarize this difficult season?
– If we go back to the start of the season, we had a lot of changes: someone was promoted, and someone did not return to Ukraine due to the war. We stabilized the line-up, but a group of players left again – on loan to the UPL clubs. This is good for the young players, because they took the chance in the Youth League. It left an imprint on the result, and that is what we work for. I would like to note that our Vladyslav Pohorilyi became the top goalscorer, even though he has not played in the Youth League since winter.
