Shakhtar played the away return match of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 against Feyenoord

The first match between the teams in Warsaw ended in draw – 1-1. Head coach of the Miners Igor Jovicevic made adjustments only in the defensive line: Yukhym Konoplia, Valerii Bondar and Bohdan Mykhailichenko returned to the starting line-up.

Effective pressing by the opponents

From the first minutes, with the strong support of De Kuip stands, the host team applied aggressive pressing near Shakhtar’s goal, and it brought them success pretty quickly. In the 9th minute, Jahanbakhsh won the ball on the right wing and passed it to the centre to Gimenez, who passed two defenders and shot pass the goalkeeper, opening the scoring. Rotterdam team's pressing only increased, and already Trubin saves after dangerous shots by Lopez and Idrissi. However, in the 24th minute, the goalkeeper did not help Shakhtar – Kokcu hit the bottom left corner with a long-range shot, doubling the advantage of Feyenoord. In the middle of the half, the Miners balanced the game and created several opportunities: Heorhii Sudakov was the closest to the goal, but the midfielder's powerful shot in the direction of the upper 90 hit the woodwork. And in the 38th minute, the Dutch players scored for the third time: after a cross from the wing, the ball hit Konoplia's arm, the referee awarded the spot-kick, which was accurately converted by Kokcu himself.

Disappointing score and last word to Kelsy

After the break, Igor Jovicevic tried to encourage the team with substitutions, strengthening the attacking line as much as possible: Djurasek came on, and a little later Kelsy, Nazaryna, Sikan and Petriak appeared. However, Feyenoord were unstoppable this evening, and within 20 minutes of the second half, the host team scored four more goals: Idrissi netted a brace with shots from the penalty area, and Jahanbakhsh and Danilo scored goals into different corners with well-placed kicks from the perimeter. The rest of the game passed at a leisurely pace, and in the 87th minute, the Orange-and-Blacks managed to score one goal – Kevin Kelsy responded to Matviienko's pass from deep and kicked the ball under the goalkeeper. In the end, Shakhtar lost to Feyenoord and completed their European Cup season.
