Shakhtar are to face Kryvbas away in the Ukrainian Women's League MD14 centrepiece game

March 24, Kryvyi Rih, Sparta, 17:00

Match build-up

Shakhtar are the third in the table with 27 points (goal difference: 39-17) and a game in hand. Roman Zaiev’s side claimed a confident victory over Ladomyr (6-1) in the only match of the spring part and extended their winning strike up to 5 encounters, with Viktoriia Holovach netting as many as four goals, thus scoring in 6 matches in a row. Tetiana Vyshnevska will not be able to help the team util the end of the current season due to injury.

Viktoriia Holovach, captain:

– We are getting ready for a fight and interesting football. Clash with Kryvbas will be uncompromising for us because the home match result, I think, didn’t match play. Result of the first match of the year against Ladomyr gives confidence, but only the game against Kryvbas will show how ready we are to face more experienced opponents.

Kryvbas finished the first stage of the championship in the second spot, having lost once in 11 rounds and conceding only in 2 matches. Volodymyr Yefimako’s team spent the pre-season period in Ukraine and won the Avrora Cup friendly tournament, facing Veres, Mariupol, and Polissia. The team managed to get stronger: young Anna Avramenko and Viktoriia Kalinchuk joined the Red-and-Whites earlier and international players Cynthia Musungu (Kenya) and Mahira Ali Mohamed (Egypt) did it just ahead of the match against Shakhtar.

Kryvbas played two winning games in the spring part of the championship: vs Dnipro-1 (4-0) and Ateks (16-0). The team currently have 36 points (goal difference: 77-4) and the second spot in the tournament. Shakhtar former player Polina Yanchuk plays for the team, leading the scoring race of the championship with 25 goals.
