Shakhtar women’s team lost to Vorskla in the postponed round 12 match
Shakhtar had all the main squad players in the starting eleven, however Roman Zaiev replaced Oksana Henyk with Diana Kravchuk in the first half.
Early goal
The match kicked off with Vorskla’s early goal scored by Kalinina using Henyk’s mistake. Kalinina had another opportunity almost immediately, but Klimova blocked her attempt. Then Shakhtar got lucky when Andrukhiv hit the post. In the 23rd minute, Roman Zaiev’s side created own chance: Molodiuk won the challenge against the opponent and found herself one on one with Bondarchuk, however the keeper saved and turned the ball for a corner. After that, Shakhtar balanced the game and had several chances to equalize owing to Vykaliuk activity on the right flank: at first, Molodiuk performed a bicycle kick and the same Vykaliuk shot from an acute angle later (post).
Toe-to-toe
The break lasted longer than usual due to air raid alert, but it did not affect Shakhtar’s mood. In the second half, Roman Zaiev’s team were more active than the opponents and created two good moments. At first, Holovach lacked few centimetres when performing a bent shot, and then Molodiuk’s attempt was caught by Bondarchuk. Vorskla responded with Kalinina’s chance who used absence of interplay in Shakhtar’s defence – Klimova played flawlessly off the line. And in the 73rd minute, the Poltava team managed to score: R. Kravchuk slotted the ball home into empty woodwork. Klimova saved the team one more time before the final whistle by turning away Andrukhiv’s header, but Shakhtar couldn’t score.
Shakhtar will play the next match on May 14. The Orange-and-Blacks will face Veres Rivne.
