Shakhtar defeated Antwerp at home in the UEFA Youth League round 5
Shakhtar U19 manager Oleksii Bielik picked the following line-up for the match against Antwerp: Barchenko took place between the sticks, Drozd and Oharkov appeared as fullbacks, Bashmarin and Dankovskyi played at centreback, Yanovych, Tsukanov and Losenko were in the midfield, Yushchenko and Harmash played as wide forwards, with Lomaha getting the centre-forward role.
Successful beginning with Yushchenko’s goal
The Miners actively entered the game and achieved success in the 7th minute: Oharkov dribbled the ball down the flank and made a diagonal pass to Yushchenko – 1-0. In response, the Belgians had an opportunity to score in the 18th minute: Hamdaoui attacked through the right flank, passed the ball to Vandeplas, who burst into the penalty area and crossed into the goal box to Verstraeten – over the crossbar. Three minutes later, Horemans threatened the goal of the Miners from tight angle, Barchenko was reliable. Shakhtar U19 then switched from defence to attack through a combinational move with Harmash's finishing shot from outside the penalty area – the keeper was there. The teams played toe-to-toe from the middle of the first half, occasionally threatening the opponents’ goal. Towards the end of the half, Antwerp U19 controlled the ball in the Miners' half of the field and unsuccessfully threatened them from the set pieces. Minimal advantage of the Orange-and-Blacks at half-time.

After the break, Shakhtar U19 coaching staff strengthened the central midfield with a substitution: Smetana appeared instead of Yanovych. The opening minutes of the second half passed at a low pace without real chances. In the 61st minute, Antwerp U19 equalized: Vandeplas, taking advantage of a mistake by the defenders, intercepted the ball and scored one-on-one with the goalkeeper, making it 1-1. Immediately in response, the Orange-and-Blacks began to act more aggressively and attacked the Belgians, and if Yushchenko's bent attempt from the set piece was stopped by the goalkeeper, then Savin could not finished the cross from Yushchenko after a combination play – wide. In the 69th minute, after Smetana's direct kick from the corner, Elmazhad sliced the ball own goal – 2-1. The Miners operated at a high pace, had a territorial advantage and were a constant threat to the goal of Antwerp U19. In the 84th minute, Shakhtar U19 converted another opportunity: Smetana crossed the ball forward to Kostrytsia from own part of the field, the latter broke into the penalty area and assisted Savin – 3-1. At the end of the meeting, Shakhtar U19 was on the ball in own part of the field and prevented Antwerp U19 from approaching a dangerous distance.
Shakhtar will face Porto away of the UEFA Youth League closing match. The clash is on December 13 at 16:30 Kyiv time.
