Ukraine national team played the Euro 2024 qualification match against North Macedonia
The starting line-up of the Blue-and-Yellows included 5 Shakhtar players: defenders Mykola Matviienko and Yukhym Konoplia, midfielders Taras Stepanenko, Heorhii Sudakov and Oleksandr Zubkov.
Ukrainians led the game from the first minutes, and Dovbyk and Mudryk had good chances to score already in the beginning. The visiting team responded with their own moment, when Trubin saved Miovski’s shot. But naturally, Serhii Rebrov’s team opened the scoring: in the 30th minute, Shakhtar player Heorhii Sudakov decided to perform a long-range shot to the centre of the goal, and the ball deflected off Macedonian defender and flew into the right corner – 1-0. The rest of the half passed with the advantage of the opponents, who created several dangerous opportunities, but failed to convert them.
The Blue-and-Yellows led the game again at the start of the second half: Dovbyk shot past the post after Sudakov’s pass, Mudryk hit the goalkeeper from advantageous position, and Matviienko finished the corner cross with a header – the visiting team were saved by the crossbar. A series of substitutions and pauses in the game slightly disrupted the pace, but Ukrainians sped up at the end of the match, created several more opportunities (in particular, the goalkeeper turned Sudakov’s shot into the same crossbar), and they impressively capped the scoring already in the added time. In the 90th + 5th minute, Sydorchuk passed to Karavaiev in his own half of the field, the latter then scored into an unguarded net of the visiting team with a long-range shot.

On October 17, Serhii Rebrov’s team will play the away match against Malta national team as part of the Euro 2024 qualification. It will kick off at 21:45.
