The Miners filled the break in the schedule of the competition with a practice game

On Sunday, October 15, Shakhtar played a friendly match against Rukh on the field of Emily Resort hotel complex in Vynnyky.

The host team started the meeting more actively, and already in the beginning, Rudko made two saves after shots by Runich and Tesliuk from the goalmouth corner; in one of the episodes, Rakitskyi cleared the ball off the line, and Pastukh hit the crossbar with a close-range shot. Towards the middle of the half, Patrick van Leeuwen’s lads took control of the ball and started to combine in the opponent’s half of the field. Eguinaldo was active on the left attacking wing, and he earned a free kick with which the Miners opened the scoring in the 36th minute: Kryskiv made a cross to the box line, and Kevin Kelsy jumped higher than the opponents and headed the ball into the net – 0-1. Even before the break, Rukh could have equalised the score, but Tymur Puzankov, who replaced Rudko in the goal, consistently saved dangerous shots by Klymchuk and Tesliuk.

Before the start of the second half, there were several substitutions in the line-up of the Orange-and-Blacks: Valerii Bondar returned to the game after the injury, and Chyhrynskyi, Oharkov, Hlushchenko, Sikan and Newerton also entered the field. Brazilian player scored the second goal in the 51st minute: after receiving a pass from Castillo on the left edge of the penalty area, Newerton beat the defenders and shot under the crossbar from a tight angle – 0-2. After that, the game continued toe-to-toe, but without any particular intensity near the goal. And the coaching staff of Shakhtar continued active rotation and gave time to young players: Tvardovskyi, Udod, Yanovych, Losenko, Tiutiunov and Halonskyi. Fresh players increased the pace, but the score remained unchanged. 2-0 – Shakhtar defeat Rukh in a practice match.

As a reminder, on October 21, Patrick van Leeuwen’s team will host LNZ at Arena Lviv in the 11th round of the UPL. And on October 25, Shakhtar will play the away match against Barcelona in the Champions League.
