Mario Stanic has been appointed as Shakhtar’s assistant head coach. He will help new manager of the Pitmen Marino Pusic.

Mario Stanic was born on April 10, 1972 in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
He began his player career in Zeljeznicar (1988–1992), played for Dinamo Zagreb (1992–1993), Spanish Sporting (1993–1994), Portuguese Benfica (1994–1995), Belgian Brugge (1995–1996), Italian Parma (1996–2000), English Chelsea (2000–2004). He made 49 appearances for the Croatian national team (1995–2003).
Achievements: the champion of Croatia (1993), the champion of Belgium, the Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup winner (1996), the Italian Cup winner (1999), the UEFA Cup winner (1999), the English Super Cup winner (2000), the World Cup bronze medallist (1998).
After finishing his career as a footballer, he worked as a scout in Belgian Brugge (2011–2020) and an adviser on sports issues to the president of Croatian Hajduk.
