Shakhtar’s Israeli defender Stav Lemkin reflected on the situation in his country and support from Ukrainians
– Stav, what is the current situation in Israel? How do you perceive everything that is happening in your country these days?
– Situation in Israel is not good. Terrorists attacked innocent civilians, killed children, women and the elderly, as well as kidnapped babies and civilians to Gaza. We are at war with a terrible terrorist organization, but we know how to fight and we will fight as we always have.
– Is everything alright with your family? How safe is the situation for them?
– Everything is fine with my family. However, we have more than 700 people that lost their lives for now. We are a small country and everyone knows someone who has lost a friend.
– You are now in Kyiv. Do you feel the solidarity of the Ukrainian people with Israel?
– We heard the kind words of the President of Ukraine and feel the solidarity. It was nice to walk the streets of Kyiv yesterday and see the Israeli flag everywhere: on screens, high-rise buildings and malls. Thank you all for your support!
