The Miners filled the break in the competitive schedule with a friendly
On Monday, September 11, Shakhtar played a friendly game against Blago-Yunist (Verkhnia, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast) at the Arena Lviv.
As expected, the Miners had a significant play advantage over the opponents and quickly converted it into a goal: in the 11th minute, Eguinaldo won the ball on the right wing and delivered it to the far post, with Kevin Kelsy making it 1-0. The Pitmen continued to create chances, but managed to increase the score only at the end of the first half. In the 38th minute, Eguinaldo scored after Newerton's pass from the left wing, and a moment before the break, move by Bondarenko and Kryskiv was finished by Kelsy with a shot from the centre of the penalty box –3-0.
Eguinaldo scored a double in the opening minutes of the second half:: in the 58th minute, the Brazilian shot past the keeper of the Verkhnia side after Bondarenko's long ball and Newerton's backheeler (second assist), making it 4-0. The Pitmen’s coaching staff made a series of substitutions in the middle of the half: Ocheretko, who fielded earlier, was joined on the field by Sikan, Kashchuk, Kozik and goalkeeper Puzankov, as well as youth team players Udod, Yanovych, Oharkov and Tsukanov. The Miners continued to attack, and Artem Bondarenko scored the team's fifth goal in the 66th minute with a great shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner. Everything was decided after Yevhen Yanovych’s goal in the 78th minute. 6:0 – Shakhtar defeated Blago-Yunist in a practice match.
We remind that Patrick van Leeuwen’s men will host Obolon in the UPL round 7 on September 16. And on September 19, Shakhtar start in the Champions League with a home game against Porto in Hamburg.
