Ukraine national team played the Euro 2024 qualification match against Italy national team

The starting line-up of the Blue-and-Yellows included three Shakhtar players: defenders Yukhym Konoplia, midfielders Taras Stepanenko and Heorhii Sudakov.

Italians looked more active from the first minutes and they opened the scoring after several dangerous attacks: Frattesi hit the near corner with a shot from about 12 metres. The host team continued to go forward and they doubled their advantage in the middle of the half – Frattesi acted in second wave after a shot by Zaniolo. Closer to the break, Ukrainians moved the game to the opponent's goal, and while Dovbyk's long-range shot was saved by Donnarumma, in the 42nd minute, Yarmolenko successfully pursued rebounds and scored one goal – 2-1.

The second half started with dangerous opportunities for Ukrainians: Tsyhankov's shot was blocked by the defenders at the last moment, and Dovbyk shot over the crossbar from advantageous position. Then, the host team created several moments, but Bushchan and the woodwork saved Serhii Rebrov's team. In the final stretch, Konoplia could have helped the Blue-and-Yellows avoid defeat, but his header after Mudryk's cross went centimetres from the post. 1-2 – Ukraine national team lost to Italy.

Ukrainians will continue the fight for Euro 2024 berth in October with matches against North Macedonia and Malta.
