Ukraine national team played the Euro 2024 qualification match against England national team
The starting line-up of the Blue-and-Yellows included four Shakhtar players: defenders Mykola Matviienko and Yukhym Konoplia, midfielders Taras Stepanenko and Heorhii Sudakov.
The beginning of the match passed with England carrying the play, but Serhii Rebrov’s side managed to keep the opponents in check – Stepanenko blocked Saka’s shot, and then stopped Maddison at the cost of a yellow card, Matviienko did not allow Kane to score, winning the fight in the air. In the 26th minute, Ukrainians carried out an excellent attack and opened the scoring: Tsyhankov passed to Konoplia on the right wing, Shakhtar player made a cross into the centre of the penalty area, and Oleksandr Zinchenko shot past Pickford – 1-0. The visiting team increased the pressure and managed to equalise the score before the break – Kyle Walker scored after Kane’s pass.
In the second half, the Blue-and-Yellows focused on defending their own goal, and then Konoplia covered for Bushchan after a sharp cross by Henderson, and later the goalkeeper himself saved the team, turning Saka’s shot into the crossbar. Ukrainians responded with an inaccurate long-range shot by Sudakov. England team continued to press, but they failed to convert their chances. In the 90th minute, another Shakhtar representative, midfielder Yehor Nazaryna, appeared on the field, it was his debut for the main team of the country.

On September 12, Serhii Rebrov’s team will also play against Italy national team as part of the Euro 2024 qualification. The game will take place in Milan and will kick off at 21:45.
