Head coach of Shakhtar Marino Pusic shared his conclusions about the game against Zorya at the post-match press conference (3-1)
– Mister, what is your general comment after the match?
– I think if you look at the first half, we played pretty well, we controlled the events on the field, except, maybe, for the fact that we were not sharp enough before our first goal. But if I look at how we progressed and built up, how we created chances and what we did, it was pretty good. We started the second half in the same way, of course. The opponent tried to play with a very close defence and fast counterattacks, which they are good at because they have fast players for this, but we controlled even that moment. And I think that we created enough chances to decide the fate of this game much earlier than the episode when we conceded a goal that resulted from a transition from our set-piece. It should not have happened – it was a bad moment, but it happens. And this was the only episode where we could say: OK, we should do much better. At the same time, we kept on playing and bounced back into the game like a really good team. We tried to find ways to approach the goal, which is not easy when the opponent is playing very low, and finally we scored two good goals and had several more good chances. The way we played, the energy we showed, how we reacted after 1-1 – it was a good job from our side. I am very proud of my team and this reaction. So, if we look at the whole game, I think we deserved this win.
