Shakhtar women’s team are preparing for the game against Vorskla Poltava
On Saturday, April 27, Shakhtar women’s team had a training session at the Academy base in Shchaslyve.
The session started with an intense running warm-up with a ball, then the outfield players worked on a passing complex, while the goalkeepers trained separately with Dmytro Shutkov and practised playing on the line. At the end, the coaching staff offered the team a series of exercises aimed at the general actions under pressure and the passing accuracy with a final shot.
As a reminder, Shakhtar vs Vorskla game will take place on April 29 in Shchaslyve at Kniazha Arena at 12:00. Live stream will be available on Shakhtar’s official YouTube channel.
Oleksandra Krevska, defender:
– The training session was aimed at practising the passing complex and the speed of decision-making during pressing. We understand that Vorskla is a strong opponent and we will have to avoid pressure. We are looking forward to the meeting and preparing in a fighting mood.
– You start the second round of the second stage of the Vyshcha League with a match against Vorskla. Sum up the results of the first round and share your expectations for the upcoming game.
– It is too early to summarise, because we still have five matches ahead. Yes, we started the spring part not very well, but we analyse the mistakes and hope that in future games we will manage to change the result. Vorskla are a very experienced team, they have the Ukraine national team level players in the squad. Poltava team play through ball control and have a strong defence and attack. It will be difficult for us, because they are multiple champions of Ukraine. We are preparing diligently, because we understand that we need to gain points.
– You came on as a captain in the match against Kryvbas. What does it mean to you? How did you feel?
– The captain’s armband primarily shows the trust of the coaching staff and the teammates. I wish the captain’s armband was not handed over and for Liubov Mokhnach to be in the squad, because we miss her a lot. I do not think that it indicates the level of progress of the player, it is more about trust and mutual understanding.
