The Ukrainian world boxing champion held a training session with the military footballers
On August 14, absolute world boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk attended the training session of Shakhtar Stalevi at the Sviatoshyn sports complex. The legendary Ukrainian athlete met with the coaches and players of the team and personally thanked the heroic soldiers who stopped the enemy and protected Ukraine during the full-scale invasion, sacrificing their own health.
Sports can help the boys find a new purpose and move on with life. I want to say to all Ukrainian soldiers: you are tigers! I take my hat off to you
Oleksandr Usyk, absolute world boxing champion:
– Each of us, Ukrainians, who are protected by these guys from the enemy, should help, support them and at least just come to chat and play football. Look at these emotions – it's simply amazing! I think we could easily run here for another ninety minutes. I have a very positive attitude towards FC Shakhtar's initiative to create such a team. Currently, there are about 50,000 people with amputations, and they can adapt to life through sports. Sports can help the boys find a new purpose and move on with life. I want to say to all Ukrainian soldiers: you are tigers! I take my hat off to you.
Besides, Oleksandr Usyk took part in Shakhtar Stalevi's training session: performed a series of passing drills with the players, took several penalties and participated in a small-sided game with each team.

– We are very happy to meet Ukrainian and world boxing legend Oleksandr Usyk in person. He is highly respected both in sports circles and in the military because he fights for our country with our flag. Usyk brings glory to Ukraine all over the world. Besides, as it turned out today, he plays football well. Therefore, it was very nice to train and talk with Oleksandr. We wish our champion new great victories!
After the session, Darijo Srna presented Oleksandr Usyk with a personalized jersey of the Miners, after which the team took a joint photo with the renowned Ukrainian champion.
